That's My Girly Girl

Being a girly girl is all about all around femininity, but even if you aren't graceful and swan-like or a master at being polite about your burping habits, you can still dress like you are sugar and spice and everything nice, if that is what you want to do. Girly style clothes are sweet and flirty, and pretty without being prim and proper. Girly is looking cute and fabulous at the same time...

The Girly Essentials:
There are some basic clothes that everyone should have no matter their style but these are some girly girl essentials!

1.A flowy, A-Line Skirt or Skater Skirt is one of the sweetest versions of a skirt and is a must for making an outfit flirty! A denim one like this goes with anything.

2.A Sweet Tee is perfect for those casual days that you don't want to feel all dressed up but still want to look fun and cute! This one has a girly bow and a touch of lace which makes it great for a girly girl.

3. Lightwash Jeans go with almost anything- from lace to floral and ones that are in a skinny fit are very girly.

4.  A Floral Dress is the epitome of girly. That's all that needs to be said.

5. A Ruffle Tank is a super cute-the ruffles make it the perfect amount of flirty. One in a baby pink like this one is also very sweet.

6. A Cropped Cardigan is great to pair with a casual outfit but also works really well with a girly dress.

7. Flats are comfortable and cute, and a must for an everyday girly look. These have bows, flowers and polka dots!

So those are the essentials, but how do you wear them? Below are some easy looks to create using the pieces above that are perfect for dressing up or down.

1.
Like I said before, a denim skirt pretty much goes with anything. You can dress it up with a lace crop top, some silver accessories, and flats for a little bit of a more fancier look. You can dress it down by adding a graphic t-shirt- try a girly pattern, color or quote- and matching the accessories to the color of the shirt. Sneakers add a more boyish-vibe that makes the outfit unique.

2.

A graphic t-shirt can be an essential in any style, depending on what the graphic is. To dress up a girly one like this you can add a blazer (which instantly makes everything a little more professional) and some white colored jeans (that are also a little more professional that the average denim pants). The pop of color in the shoes are really cute, and some plain accessories let the bright colors of the outfit stand out. For a dressed down look, denim cutoffs in a unusual color, with matching accessories is a great girly casual look. A hair bow is also super girly.

3.
Lightwash jeans are very versatile. To look as fancy as you can in denim, a loose, girly tank that can look a little casual can be paired with accessories like a big, statement necklace, and shoes that are definite show stealers give the outfit a bit of a glam look. A casual look could be created by taking a chiffon-type scarf in a floral print, then matching one of the less-dominant colors to a plain t-shirt.  Shoes and accessories that are another color from the scarf make the outfit look really put together.

4.

Every girly girl needs a floral dress, and luckily most of them can be worn in many ways. One way to dress up a floral dress would be to add a denim jacket and accessories like a belt and shoes that are the same color. Wedges are a good idea because they are more comfortable and easier to walk in compared to regular heels, but still are super cute. For an easy, fun look you can wear a bright belt that matches one of the colors in your dress, then add cute accessories that match.

5.
A basic tank top is always an easy piece to build an outfit around, and a ruffled tank is just as easy and even cuter. To make a dressed-up outfit, just add a cardigan and skirt that is a little above the knees. I personally like the look of the same colored cardi and skirt, but you can experiment with colors. I also like to match the shoes with the color, and wear a simple necklace. To make a dressed-down outfit, add some denim short-shorts (Who wears short shorts? We wear short shorts!). I love the look of a pink top with white shorts. I like to accessorize this outfit with some simple flip flops for shoes, a basic pendant necklace and some cute bangles.

6.
The cardigan is easily in my top ten fashion items list. They can be long, have short sleeves, have long sleeves, but the cropped cardigan is perfect for creating girly looks. You can use it on a dressed up outfit, like a pretty cocktail dress with tights to keep you warm on chilly nights. Accessorize with a matching statement necklace and shoes and some heels. The cropped cardigan is also great to warm up a casual outfit like a tank top and jeans, with  flats and a simple necklace.

7.
One of the most important parts of dressing like a girly girl is not forgetting the about the accessories. Flats are a great shoe that can be casual and fancy. The perfect girly girl bag is the handbag that every girly girl in any movie seems to have. As for jewelry, the charm bracelet is always a super sweet option, a pendant necklace is a great choice, and studs for earrings are the cute-without-trying type of earring.

Girly Stars:
A great way to find new ideas for outfits is to look at celebrities for inspiration. While there are many girly stars, two that scream girl-next-door are Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande.
Since Taylor started to get famous, she has always been spotted sporting girly outfits. She looks great in casual outfits, whether it is dark skinnies and a girly top, or a floral dress and a cardigan. She also has several great red carpet dresses that go with the girly style, like the sparkly high-low one above.
Ariana is a dress-wearing, bow-loving kind of girl. She has a knack for wearing cute dresses, but her tank top and jeans outfit is also super cute. She wears cute dresses on and off the red carpet, like the fun blue one and the pink dress with the cute headband.

Stores:
So now that you have an idea of what to wear, you may need some help on where to get the clothes. Charlotte RusseLulu's, and dELiA*s are all stores that sell girly clothes that are not too expensive.

Hair:
Curled hair is always girly, but to make it a little less boring you can do a half-up half-down style. You can do the simple pulling a bit from each side and pinning it at the back, or pulling it from the top and pinning it at the back, or add some cool braids for a unique look.

Makeup:

I think that a full faced, over-the-top makeup look is not girly- but a natural, feature-enhancing one is. The trick to wearing the no-makeup makeup look is to use makeup that just makes your face a little more done-up but you are still recognizable. You can use things like mascara to make your eyelashes darker and longer, and lush to give your cheeks more life. If these things are done correctly people will not be able to tell you are wearing makeup. A tip: after you put your foundation/concealer on and are looking kind of lifeless and sick, try to imagine what a healthy person looks like (bright eyes, rosy cheeks, clear skin, etc.)

I hope you enjoyed this post on girly clothes, hair, and makeup. Like I said before there will be a total of 6 posts like these. Hopefully every Monday, but sometimes this won't work out. Next up: EDGY!

In your closet, what are your clothing essentials?
XOXO,
Taylor
